What is Coaching?

Coaching Description:

Coaches address specific personal or professional goals, broad conditions and transitions in a client’s profession, personal life, or relationships by examining what is happening now, discovering obstacles or challenges, and choosing a course of action.

Coaching emerged from a synthesis of various fields including the human potential movement, training, change management, psychology and systems science. Each of these fields has their own models and approaches. The various schools of thought agree that coaching works.

Results of Coaching:

Results of coaching may include, more life satisfaction, less stress, more passion and motivation, increased self-confidence, clarity of goals and vision, improved organization and productivity, greater life balance, ability to see different perspectives, positive change, emotional growth, and financial and professional gains.

Co-active Coaching:

Peter Seidler Coaching includes co-active principles. A brief summary of co-activity from The Coach Training Institute (CTI):

  • Co-active coaching is committed to creating change in human consciousness. Co-active coaching focuses at the level of core identity–who people are and how they perceive and interact with their world. People long to evolve as human beings and continually grow towards more aware and integrated ways of being in the world.
  • Co-active coaching is committed to change that is transformative, rather than incremental. It creates leaps in awareness that open up new possibilities. When people let go of restrictive ways of viewing themselves and world, they discover more authentic, creative and resourceful ways of creating fulfilling lives.
  • Co-Active Coaching operates holistically, encompassing mind, body and spirit. When a person is able to move forward in an integrated way, solutions and opportunities arise that were not visible from the different parts.
  • Co-Active coaching puts interrelationship at the center of every interaction, understanding that coaching is a co-created process and that results are always more rich when created together. When we open to interrelationship that always exists, the range of creative opens as well.
